Whitesands project - The Greensands
This car park will be extended but there will remain in place a substantial amount of grassed open space and tree planting. A new access will be created via a ramp from the car park next to the former Arts College. Until recently this site housed both a swimming pool and car park.
This area will still be at risk of flooding but its frequency of flooding is significantly less than the current Whitesands car park.
Any temporary closure will be easy to manage and unlike the current closure of the Whitesands car park will not result in the closure of one of the main roadways through Dumfries.
