Tackling domestic abuse

We work in partnership with other local organisations and agencies to tackle domestic abuse and violence against women in Dumfries and Galloway.

We are part of the Domestic Abuse and Violence Against Women Partnership (DAVAWP) . Members of the partnership are committed to working together to end all forms of violence against women, including:

  • threats and intimidation
  • hitting or other forms of physical abuse
  • forced / unwanted sex (rape) or other forms of sexual abuse
  • insults, criticism and put-downs
  • isolation from your family, friends or other groups
  • controlling behaviour
  • withholding / controlling money

The group's vision is that Dumfries and Galloway is free from domestic abuse and other forms of violence against women. One of the DAVAWP's primary aims is to make sure that support to tackle and end violence is readily available.

Other partners include:

  • Alcohol and Drugs Partnership
  • NHS Dumfries and Galloway
  • Women's Aid
  • South West Rape Crisis
  • Police Scotland
