Maximising our income and underpinning fairness through targeted concessions

Charging for discretionary services is essential in ensuring that we maximise the use of taxpayer's funds to deliver lifeline services and that these taxes do not subsidise lower priority services. In addition any excess income can be reinvested into high priority areas of the Council Plan. Utilising the outcomes form our Charging for Services review we will move towards achieving full cost recovery. However, we recognise that fairness and protecting our most vulnerable are key values of our Council and we will ensure a targeted and sustainable concession regime underpins our fees and charges.
