Apply for Care Call
Care Call is open to all ages.
Care Call might be the ideal solution if you're experiencing:
- Long-term health conditions;
- Frailty;
- Sensory impairment;
- Mental health problems;
- Dementia; and/or;
- Problems with substance misuse;
What you'll need:
As part of the Telecare service, we require emergency responders to meet the following criteria. A minimum of two named emergency responders, they should be:
- From separate addresses, or different generations of family living a separate lifestyle;
- A spouse/partner can be a responder but must provide a mobile telephone number;
- Have access to the property (key or key safe details where applicable); and
- Should live within a 45-minute travel distance to the property.
The role of a responder is to be:
- Potentially contactable and potentially able to attend the property 24/7; and
- Able to contact onward support as needed (999, carers, GP).
How to apply
To request a Care Call referral:
- Call 030 33 33 3001; or
- Email accessteam@dumgal.gov.uk with 'Care Call Referral' as the subject heading.
Costs & Payment
- Weekly charge of £3.60 or free for those under 18 or with SR1/BASRiS certification;
- Equipment provided is included within the weekly charge; and
- Payments can be collected monthly or quarterly.
Important information
- Dumfries & Galloway Council's finance team will contact you via letter to arrange a payment method;
- We will never contact you directly to ask for card payment details;
- Our team will arrange appointments/visits via a phone call;
- Equipment remains the property of Dumfries & Galloway Council. If the service is no longer required, all equipment will be uplifted at an agreed date and time;
- Please advise us if you move property so that our team can reinstall your equipment and ensure it is able to communicate successfully to our services; and
- Emergency contacts must notify us when they go on holiday to ensure service users have appropriate support available during this period.
