Care at home
Care in your own home is available to people who require assistance with daily living tasks such as washing, dressing or household chores.
Urgent update on Care at Home services
across the region which will mean that the levels of support currently available will be severely restricted.
You may want (or need) to receive care at home support because you're frail, may have severe learning disabilities, have mental health needs or a physical disability. Not everyone has family or friends to care for them at home and many would rather not ask family or friends for help. One alternative is to pay for a home care provider.
Care at home can help you to develop confidence and possibly regain skills to increase your independence and let you live in your own home.
The first step is usually to apply for help and we can come up with solutions but you can organise care yourself.
Paying for home care
Care at home may be funded as part of a support package after a care assessment but some services may have to be paid for. Any charges (if you have to pay) will depend on your financial situation.
You should confirm costs with your chosen care provider if you are organising and paying for services yourself. The costs will depend on the type of support you need.

Approved providers
There are lots of things to consider when you're choosing a care provider such as location, contracts and fees, availability and services. You should:
- contact providers in your area
- check Care Inspectorate inspection reports
- speak to family, friends, your GP or health visitor
- contact us or other organisations for advice and information
We work with a number of home care providers right across the region.
