Support for people with autism

There are a range of local services for people with autism. We want to help overcome barriers to accessing support, difficulties in securing meaningful employment and public misconception.

Local autism strategy

The Dumfries and Galloway Autism Strategy aims to ensure that all people with autism across Dumfries and Galloway are accepted as they are and have access to high quality services. The strategy was developed by a multi-agency group together with people with autism, their families and others who support them.

Autism Outreach Service

This is a specialist advisory service for children and young people aged 8 to 16 who have autistic spectrum disorders or who are awaiting assessment.

Dumfries and Galloway Autism Network

This is a local multi-agency group linked to Autism Network Scotland. The Network's aim is to raise awareness of autism and organise events for families, carers, and individuals affected by autism as well as professionals working in the field.
