Inaugural Twilight Stroll success in Dumfries

Dumfries and Galloway Council, in partnership with West Sound’s Cash for Kids appeal staged the first Twilight 10k Stroll on the evening of Saturday 1 June. Two hundred walkers took part in the challenge. The event attracted both men and women of all ages from all over South West Scotland. This was the first time that the event had been held in Dumfries and it proved to be very well supported by local people from all over the region.
The 10k sponsored walk raised funds for West Sound’s Cash for Kids. The walkers started and finished at Easterbrook Hall, which provided a wonderful backdrop for the late evening event. All the walkers completed the full distance and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Brian Collins, Depute Leader of Dumfries and Galloway Council, said “I would like to congratulate and thank all the walkers for taking part and raising money for such a worthwhile cause. We hope that everyone had a good time at the event and found the route accessible and enjoyable. I would like to thank all the volunteers as well as the local companies who kindly donated refreshments and goodies for the walkers. Thanks also to the Crichton Development Company for the use of the Easterbrook Hall and the use of the grounds.”
