New Graduate opportunities available now!
Wednesday, 29 May 2013 13:16

To illustrate its commitment to creating employment opportunities for young people, Dumfries and Galloway Council are rolling our further graduate placements.  On the back of last year’s successful Graduate programme, the Council is planning to recruit seven new graduates next month.

The programme will give each Graduate the chance to take on responsibility for a specific project, which will directly contribute towards the achievement of Council objectives.  The range of projects cover different areas of Council business including trading standards, technology solutions, social work services and human resources.

Depute Council Leader Brian Collins said, “Our Council’s Administration committed to preparing young people for employment and the roll out of these new graduate posts are evidence of our continuing drive to do so.  The Graduate programme targets young people from our region and aims to introduce them to employment.  Each job brings with it exciting opportunities and unique experiences.  The chance to work in a live environment to develop skills and knowledge gained through further qualification is great incentive for the young people of our region.  The success of the programme in 2012 leaves me in no doubt that these new posts will produce the same positive experiences as the posts did in last years programme.”

The recruitment process is underway now.  A copy of the Graduate Experience Employment Programme prospectus can be downloaded from the Council’s website.  This will give full details of all the posts that are being recruited to, as well as short summaries from young people who completed the programme last year.

Job application forms can be found and completed at My Job Scotland’s website.
