The RBC Film Theatre is bringing back the magic of a morning at the movies with its brand new idea, The Wee Film Club. The Wee Film Club will show children's films on the first Saturday of each month at 10.30am, beginning on Saturday 1 June.
Membership for The Wee Film Club costs just £10 per year (1 adult & 1 child), or £20 (2 adults, 2 children). Guests and non-members £2 per film.
If you sign up for a yearly subscription you will receive a complimentary family ticket (worth £18.20) which you can use to see films from the RBC Film Theatre’s main programme.
The Wee Film Club will be showing the best and the greatest films from around the world for children, and members will be able to request films that they want to see. The films will alternate each month between a feature film and a short film or episode (for example, ‘The Gruffalo’, ‘Postman Pat’, ‘Thomas the Tank Engine’) to cater for even the youngest children who cannot sit through a longer film.
There will also be fun workshops and activities after selected films.
The Robert Burns Centre Film Theatre sits on the river Nith on the Mill Road near Mill Green, and shows a diverse programme ranging from arthouse features to blockbuster releases. The smallest cinema in Scotland, this friendly and intimate setting makes it the ideal introduction to the big screen experience.
Film Theatre staff who came up with the idea – and who have young children themselves – say:
‘We have had some lovely films and workshops for children recently, and it is fantastic when the building is brimming full of excited little people, their imaginations stimulated by the magic of the cinema.’
To book tickets, please telephone the Film Theatre Box Office on 01387 264808 or email rbcft@dumgal.gov.uk.
