West Fest: Kinetic Landscapes

Celebrating the best of local artists, Westfest and Stranraer Museum  again offers a new take on the world around us.  Kinetic landscapes was the title offered as inspiration to a selection of local artists, who have responded in fine style.  Given no further guidance, they were asked to produce work that gave life to this enigmatic term.  The results can be seen in this exciting and wide ranging exhibition.

Artists from all over Scotland as well as local artists are tackling the theme of movement in nature for the West Fest annual Art Exhibition in Stranraer Museum.   It may be kinetic art or it may just be the sense of rolling nature.   It may be the white giants which have started to pepper our countryside or it may be simply the movement of colour.

Of the 26 artists taking part one third are local.   Others come from as far away as Shetland and Aberdeen.

Some artists are well-known to West Fest exhibitions, others are new.   Among the artists taking part are Claire Harkess, James Harrigan, Helen Turner, Pam Carter, and Colin Macleod.

Young Artists of Stranraer

Alongside West Fest is an exhibition of work by artists from Belmont Primary School.  The children created detailed drawings which they re-worked to transform into fantastic prints.  With colour and style they offer a new take on the world around us. The exhibition is designed to give these wonderful budding artists a chance to experience the thrill of a professional exhibition of their work.  All their prints will be for sale; an ideal opportunity to snap up the work of a future trend setter.

Both exhibitions run from Saturday 18 May to Saturday 22 June, 2013.   Admission is free.
