Extension for festivities
Monday, 02 December 2013 13:20
The Annandale and Eskdale Licensing Board has granted a general extension of licensed hours, the first Board in Dumfries and Galloway to use this power under the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005. The general extension means that over the festive period on sales premises will be allowed later closing times, to 1am, on the nights of 24, 25, 26, 31 December 2013 and 1 January 2014 to reflect the new Festive Hours Policy. This will mean that licence holders will not need to apply for an extension for these hours and this will save the licensed trade time and money. There is, however, no requirement on licence holders to use these extra hours: the Annandale and Eskdale Licensing Board has left that as a decision for each operator. There will be no general extensions beyond these dates and times so any applications for extended hours outwith the general extension will be considered on a case-by-case basis and must be submitted to the Licensing Department no later than 14 days from the date required.
