Then the Stranraer Young Leaders Project is for you!
The Young Leader’s Project in Stranraer is delivered by Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Youth Work Service, and they are currently recruiting new members to take part in their leadership programme focussed on giving young people a way to develop their skills through volunteering in youth and community projects.
They offer lots of ways to help you discover your leadership skills and styles through training and mentoring, and opportunities for you to get more involved in your local community.
Emma Halliday, a Young Leader in Stranraer said: “Volunteering is a great way to prepare yourself for your future and it helps you learn more about yourself through exploring how you think, learn, communicate and lead. It’s lots of fun, and also a great way to meet new people – and a brilliant addition to your CV”
Young people participating in Stranraer Young Leaders will work towards achieving a range of accredited Youth Awards, such as Saltire, Youth Achievement and the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.
Councillor Archie Dryburgh, Chair of Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Communities Committee said: “If you have a passion for improving your community and helping others, please sign up today. You can make your community a better place by using your skills, voice and talents.”
Councillor John Campbell, Vice Chair of the Communities Committee, agreed saying: “Every day, young volunteers are making such a huge difference to the lives of others across the region, and we need their passion, energy and skills to help us to build strong and resilient communities.”
