Children from Dumfries Customer Service Centres received their medals and certificates for the completion of the ‘Space Chase’ Summer Reading Challenge on Wednesday 25 September.
Inspired by the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, Space Chase has taken young readers on an out-of-this-world adventure with a super space family, The Rockets.
During the summer holidays, children were encouraged to borrow and read six books from their local Libraries in return for goodies such as bookmarks, wristbands and fold up games.
Councillor John Martin, Vice Chairman of Communities Committee said;
“It is important to congratulate the children on completing the Challenge as reading is so important to their education. It is great for the children to receive their medals from two players from Queen of the South, as the Club commemorate their centenary year.”
Local Queen of the South players, Ross Irving and Ewan Gourlay attended to present the children with their awards accompanied by Commercial Manager for Queen of the South, Daniel Armstrong.
