Stranraer 10K road race 2013
Wednesday, 02 October 2013 10:45
This year’s 10k Stranraer road race will take place on Saturday 2 November at 12noon. Entries are open to participants 15 years and over on the day of the race. Online, telephone and postal entries close Wednesday 30 October. However, entries will be received on the day of the event.
The route is measured accurately. It is an undulating course with a challenging hill at the three kilometre mark.
Organisers were very pleased with last year's entry of 150 athletes and are hopeful that entries will increase again this year.
The winner of the 10K in 2012 was Mickey Breen from Corstorphine AC in a fantastic time of 32 minutes 37 seconds. The winning female was Jan Emsley from Arran Runners. The first Wigtownshire local lady home was Mary Pat McFarlane and the first Wigtownshire local man was Ross Bark.
All competitor/spectator facilities will be at the Stranraer Academy athletic track. The race will finish here but will commence approximately 1km from the finish on Commerce road.
Thanks go to Border Cars, Morrisons, Royal Bank of Scotland, Tescos, Stagecoach, Stenaline, Police Scotland and Wigtown Area Committee for their local sponsorship and support in the organising of this event.
