Day care for older people

Day care centres offer you a range of activities to help you continue living at home or with your family or carer.

Your local centre can:

  • help with everyday tasks and personal care
  • develop your skills and find out the things you can and can't manage
  • offer opportunities to be part of your community
  • allow you and your carer to get a break
  • give you a chance to meet people and make friends

You may only need day care for a short time, perhaps to regain confidence after a spell in hospital, or you might need support on a more regular basis.

How to apply

There is a charge for attending day care services and we may be able to help towards the cost of this as part of a care package, help with transport to and from day care services may also be available.

It's easy to arrange support with information from you. We can help you find solutions and consider whether day care would be beneficial for you.
