Wreath Laying and Proclamations of The New Sovereign at Stranraer, Kirkcudbright and Dumfries on Sunday 11 September

Wreaths were laid and there was the Proclamations of The New Sovereign at Stranraer, Kirkcudbright and Dumfries on Sunday 11 September at 12.45pm by the Chief Executive, Convener and Deputy Convener of Dumfries and Galloway Council, with the participation of the three Lord-Lieutenants from across Dumfries and Galloway.

Members of the public were invited to attend.

At Stranraer, Aileen Brewis, Lord-Lieutenant for Wigtown, joined Council Convener and Co-Leader Councillor Stephen Thompson at the War Memorial at the Sheriff Court on Lewis Street.

In Kirkcudbright, Lord-Lieutenant for The Stewartry of Kirkcudbright Matthew St Clair, The Lord Sinclair, joined Dumfries and Galloway Council Chief Executive Dr Dawn Roberts at the War Memorial on Castle Street.

Finally, in Dumfries, Lord-Lieutenant of Dumfries Fiona Armstrong was joined by Council Deputy Convener and Co-Leader Councillor Linda Dorward and Provost of Dumfries Councillor Tracey Little at the Maxwelltown War Memorial, at Rotchell Road/New Abbey Road.

Flags were then returned to half-mast on Council buildings across the region until after the funeral of Her Majesty The Queen, which will take place on Monday 19 September.
