Working Our Way Out of Poverty Participatory Budgeting Funding
Dumfries and Galloway Council had again allocated another round of Tackling Poverty & Inequalities Funding which was decided by Participatory Budgeting (PB). This type of allocation is specifically designed to give people the opportunity to make decisions on funding for anti-poverty projects within their local area. We want to ensure that local people and communities are at the heart of our decision making and together we we'll be able to achieve more and better outcomes for our local communities through PB.
For this allocation of Tackling Poverty and Inequalities Grant Funding, we have offered organisations the opportunity to increase their capacity by recruiting additional staff to support you to deliver on projects which tackle the various forms of poverty within our region. This targeted approach to funding will support organisations to increase their capacity in order to deliver critical services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This Funding helps to cover the costs of a new employee who will help the organisations below to deliver their current projects or to develop new projects which tackle poverty & inequalities. This funding can be used flexibly and can be used to create posts which are either part time or full time, or continue existing posts where the funding has ended. We want to be as flexible as we can to support your organisations to put in place the best approach that supports your community.
All of the projects which will be delivered through this core funding will ultimately:
- Increase income from employment
- Help to reduce the costs of living
- Increase income from national and regional benefits and benefits in kind
