Lockerbie and Syracuse Trust

The Lockerbie and Syracuse Trust was formed to distribute fund allocated through the Lockerbie Disaster. The Trust allows young people from Lockerbie Academy to attend Syracuse University in the USA.

The fund provides two scholarships per year. These scholarships have been set up to strengthen the bond between the Community of Lockerbie and Syracuse University after 35 Syracuse students died in the air disaster on 21 December 1988.

Award criteria

Scholarships are open to the following categories of students who are resident in, or have substantial connection with the community of Lockerbie:

  • Undergraduate or postgraduate students attending University or Colleges

Candidates should have the required academic ability and be a suitable ambassador to further the links and friendship between the Scottish and American communities.
