DG Customer Services - Lochthorn, Dumfries

We're pleased to tell you that the Ewart Library is being refurbished. This means that the library will be closed from 6 January 2025 for 4 months to allow us to complete all the planned refurbishments. 

To ensure you can continue to access our services we have extended the hours at Georgetown Customer Service Centre and Lochthorn Customer Service Centre.

Book are available to borrow and return from any of the Customer Service Centres.  We have extended the Opening Hours at Georgetown Customer Service Centre and Lochthorn Customer Service Centre during the refurbishments. 

Appointments for Blue Badge or NEC Cards can be booked on site or by calling 030 33 33 3004, appointments can be delivered at your nearest Customer Service Centre. Georgetown will be hosting an extra Bookbug Session every Monday at 10am.

Waste Sacks will be available from other Customer Service Centres, the locations of collection points will be detailed on letters given from Waste Services. There is no change to our Community Outreach Service during the refurbishments. 

Book Groups will be affected, however groups can pre-order multiple sets to collect prior to the 6 January 2025 from their normal allocated site.  Book Groups will be contacted directly. 

Heritage Services will be available by appointment. Please email heritage@dumgal.gov.uk

• Join the library
• Borrow books and audiobooks
• Use computers and the internet (by appointment)
• Use free WiFi access
• Register births, deaths and marriages  (by appointment)
• Pick up dog waste bags
• Apply for a bus pass
• Collect an application for a disabled parking permit

Appointments are now available for:

• National Entitlement Card applications
• Public Access PC use
• Registration Services including births, deaths, marriages, and civil partnerships
• Replacement certificates
