MOT testing
All cars over 3 years old need an MOT test each year. We can inspect your vehicle and issue MOT certificates at our approved testing stations in Dumfries and Stranraer.
MOT tests are designed to ensure your vehicle meets road safety and environmental standards. It's illegal to drive a vehicle without a valid MOT certificate.
Our specialist testers are fully-trained to inspect all vehicles to the highest standards.

Cost and payment
The price of a test is £45.
Retests are free if you take the vehicle away and bring it back within 10 Working Days. You need a full retest (and will have to pay a full MOT test fee again) if you don't get it retested by us within 10 days.
You can pay by cash or cheque.

You must arrive at least 15 minutes before your appointment but you can bring your car in any time from opening onwards, leave it with us and collect it later.
The test should take around 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Repairs and retests
Your vehicle must be repaired and retested if it fails the test. It's illegal to drive a vehicle without a valid MOT certificate unless you are taking it to get the defects fixed or attend a pre-arranged MOT test.
All repairs required to pass the test can be done on site on the same day. We'll tell you upfront about any work that's needed and what the charges will be.
You need a full retest if you don't get it retested by us within 10 days. This means paying the full MOT test fee again too.
