Business Growth Accelerator relief
Business rates relief (known as Business Growth Accelerator Relief) may be available for new build properties and properties being expanded or improved.
The relief is available to properties built, expanded or improved after 1 April 2018.
New build premises
The Business Growth Accelerator relief will mean you (or your tenants) won't have to pay business rates for 12 months after the building is completed and occupied.
This relief is in addition to any business rates exemption for unoccupied properties that you may be entitled to.
Expanded or improved premises
The Business Growth Accelerator relief will mean you (or your tenants) won't have to any additional charges on your business rates for 12 months. The rate you pay will be continue to be based on the existing rateable value over those 12 months.
What happens next
We'll review your application and let you know if you are entitled to a discount, this can take 2 or 3 weeks. We may ask for more information to help us make a decision.
