Engagement - Footbridge location on the River Annan
Following the loss of the Cuthbertson Memorial and Diamond Jubilee footbridges during the severe rainfall event in October 2021, we are seeking your views on the potential future location for a replacement footbridge over the River Annan.
The local community group 'A Tale of Two Bridges' is leading efforts to restore connectivity over the River Annan. Supported by Dumfries and Galloway Council, a feasibility study is being undertaken by design consultant Amey, who will provide recommendations for the replacement footbridge.
We are looking to understand the community's desires for the new footbridge, preferred locations, and other considerations that will inform the design process. The information gathered will help identify the most suitable location and usage methods for the replacement footbridge.
How to get involved
A public engagement session is being held to review potential locations for a replacement footbridge(s) on the River Annan. These sessions will take place on Thursday 29 August 2024 at the Annan Market Hall. There will be two sessions on the day:
- 2pm to 4pm
- 5pm to 7pm
These sessions will enable the community to view and comment on the assessment work undertaken to date. Representatives from Dumfries and Galloway Council and Amey (project design consultant) will be on hand to assist with any questions.
If you are unable to attend the engagement session, all materials displayed at the event will be available to view on the survey below.
The survey will be live from Thursday 22 August until 8 September. Paper copies of the survey will also be available within Annan Library.
