The Routes
For the races to use public roads and meet safety standards, there will be temporary road closures throughout the event. This means there will be some changes to the way Dumfries operates around the event period in terms of street access, on-street parking and service delivery including public transport.
A full list of road closures can be found on our interactive map at UCI Cycling World Championships. Simply click/hover over an area to find out what restrictions are, and at what times.
Getting around
Active transport
Walking, wheeling and riding a bike around the town is a good option if possible. Pedestrian crossing points will be all around the course, so you may choose to park on one side of the course and walk to the other.
Buses
Buses will be operating however bus services will be affected by road closures with some start, finish and stopping locations and times adjusted. Signage will be displayed to advise of any changes.
Emergency Services
Emergency services are involved in event planning and will always have priority access to all areas of Dumfries.
In an emergency, please call 999 and emergency services representatives will work with all agencies to respond urgently. For the safety of the community, participants, volunteers and spectators, please follow all traffic directions as signposted or indicated by event personnel.
Household Waste Collection
Unless informed otherwise, waste collection will remain on the same day as usual. Please put your bin out the evening prior to your collection day.
