Consultation on a Cultural Strategy for Dumfries and Galloway

Dumfries and Galloway Council and its partners, including DG Unlimited, are creating a Cultural Strategy for our region. We want the strategy to help unlock the potential of culture - by which we mean arts and heritage of all types - to make a positive difference to people's lives in Dumfries and Galloway.

It will Champion, and be an advocacy tool for the whole cultural sector.

We plan to publish the strategy during 2020.

Why we are consulting

We want to find out what's important to you, what you think works well, and hear your ideas on how to make our cultural sector even better.

We also want your help to finesse the strategy's draft vision and key themes which we've developed in discussion with representatives from the region's cultural sector and Dumfries and Galloway's Community Learning and Development Partnership.

Have your say

The consultation phase ended on 8 September 2019 and you can read about the results in our Newsletter and Cultural Strategy Engagement Report.  A report with a high level summary of the findings considered by the Council's Communities Committee on 28 January 2020 (Item 16) can also be viewed.

What we'll do with the results

We will use your feedback to create a Cultural Strategy for Dumfries and Galloway, which we will share with you before submitting to Dumfries and Galloway Council for approval. Before then, most likely around October 2019, we will share with you a report that summarises what you told us during the engagement phase.
