This exclusive fully supervised trip offered a fantastic opportunity to train at Murray Park, the state-of-the-art training ground used by Rangers first team. The £14 million, 38 acre site has been designed to develop the skills of all players, from Rangers Soccer Schools participants to Rangers first team. Children received expert coaching which included a two hour coaching session with Rangers Soccer School professional coaches and a guided tour of the facilities.
David Stewart, Senior Soccer Schools Officer for Rangers, said, “Rangers Football Club is committed to providing young players with opportunities to enhance their technical ability in a fun and safe environment."
Councillor Ian Lindsay, Chair of Annandale and Eskdale Area Committee, added, “Glasgow Rangers are one of Scotland’s top Football Clubs so the children were learning from some of the best. It is the aim of the Sports Academy to continue to provide children in Annandale & Eskdale with these unique opportunities.
John Grierson from sponsor of the Sports Academy, EnergySOLUTIONS, said, “The Sports Academy provides excellent opportunities for the young people of Annandale & Eskdale. The visit to Murray Park provided children with a memorable experience which they would not otherwise have had.”
Rangers midfielder Steve Davis says of the Soccer Schools, “As a kid there was nothing I wanted to be more than a footballer and I used to practise my skills every day. Rangers Soccer Schools is the ideal place for youngsters to do this and improve their technique and game awareness. Not only are kids guaranteed to have a great time, but the coaches always have their eyes open for new talent, so it really is the best way to be spotted and make your first steps to becoming a professional footballer.”
