Bookbug drops in
Thursday, 02 May 2013 14:58
A surprise visitor dropped in to see the babies and toddlers at libraries across Dumfries and Galloway. Bookbug flew in all the way from Edinburgh to join in Bookbug sessions at Stranraer, Wigtown, Newton Stewart, Lochmaben, Lockerbie, Gretna and the Ewart Library, Dumfries. A tour of some 230 + miles.
Bookbug sessions are free, fun and friendly events for babies, toddlers, pre-schoolers and their families to enjoy together. Each session lasts around 30 minutes and includes songs, stories and rhymes. Your nearest session can be found at www.dumgal.gov.uk/lia.
Bookbug also encouraged all the children to take part in Bookbug’s Library Challenge. This is a free programme that encourages children aged birth to four to discover and enjoy their local library and is run in every library in Dumfries and Galloway. If your child is already a member of the library or just joining they can get started straight away. They will be given a collector’s card and once they collect six stars they will receive a great certificate. There are seven different limited edition certificates to collect. So start collecting now – it's never too early or too late to join your local library... and it’s FREE!
