Click, Talk, Knit at Dumfries Musuem
Thursday, 17 December 2020 09:37
Dumfries Museum is hosting an exhibition of work by The Click Talk knitting group, which has met in Dumfries Museum every week since 2004…until Covid-19, that is.

The group members have, however, been busy knitting at home and have donated blankets to Shax and Shelter; cot blankets, baby jackets and hats to the DGRI maternity unit; clothing for refugees through MOoL; and filled shoeboxes for the Blytheswood Christmas Appeal.

A member of staff at Dumfries Museum said: “The display of knitted jumpers, blankets and other items reminds us of the Click Talk members who usually fill the museum with their talk and laughter. We’re looking forward when it’s safe for them to return.”

Councillor Andy Ferguson, Chair of the Communities committee, said: “It’s heart-warming to see that members of the knitting group are finding ways to keep in touch during this difficult year. I wish them all the best and hope that it won’t be too long until they can meet as a group again.”

Councillor John Martin, Vice Chair, said: “This display of knitting is a tribute to the skills and generosity of the members of the Click Talk group.”

The display is on until 5 January after which the knitted items will be donated to charities.

Dumfries Museum is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 1pm and 1.30 to 4pm, entry is free of charge.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, it’s best to pre-book: www.dgculture.co.uk/venue/dumfries-museum.

Bookings can also be made at The Midsteeple Box Office, t: 01387 253 383, Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 1pm.

The Click Talk group would welcome donations of wool, t: 01387 253 374, or drop it off at Dumfries Museum.
