High response to social landlord survey
Tuesday, 02 July 2013 14:53
Around 2,000 people responded to a recent Registered Social Landlord (RSL) Survey. The postal survey undertaken in May 2013 is to assist the set up of a Common Housing Register (CHR)
The purpose of the register is to allow a single point of access for housing applicants irrespective of which RSL they approach for assistance.
The CHR means that one application form will be considered by all partner RSL's based on the same assessment process.
The survey asked people registered with RSL's for their thoughts on how social housing is allocated, overcrowding and the condition of buildings etc.
Councillor Jim McClung Chair of the Council's Housing Sub Committee said:
“It is unfortunate that the start date for the register has been pushed back, but given the healthy response to the public consultation it is only correct that proper analysis is carried out so that comments can be taken on board.
It is extremely important that when the CHR is launched it works as efficiently as possible and is responsive to the needs of both the tenants and the RSL’s.
Along with the analysis of the consultation, other working arrangements are continuing to enable the launch of the register as quickly as possible.”
Further consultation events are planned over the coming months, which include a series of 12 CHR Roadshows across the region where tenants, waiting list applicants and others can attend ‘drop-in’ sessions.
