Emergency school closures
Schools are sometimes closed in unexpected circumstances like bad weather. We aim to let everyone know as soon as we can in these situations.
Headteachers are authorised to make an emergency closure when the state of the weather or any other exceptional circumstance make it absolutely necessary in the best interests of the pupils.
Text messaging
You will receive a text message wherever possible if your child's school is closed.

We maintain an online list which is updated as soon as possible when schools close:

The list provides further details including reasons for closures, expected durations of closures and contact details for the schools.
We add a link to the list from our homepage when one or more schools are closed at short notice. It might also be useful to save the link to your favourites or bookmarks.

Local media
Local newspapers, radio and TV stations receive an email as soon as the online list of closed schools is updated. They can publicise this information if they want to.
