Bus passes for older people
The National Entitlement Card (NEC) gives access to free travel on buses across Scotland if you are 60 or over and live in Dumfries and Galloway. Services between this area and Carlisle are also free.
Apply online for a new card

If you are unable to apply online, you can make an appointment for an assisted application at our Customer Service Centres .

Staff can check documents, take a photograph, complete an electronic application and order your bus pass.

What you need
You will need to provide the following documents to prove your eligibility:
- proof of person (for example: birth certificate (unless your name has changed) or current passport or current driving licence or marriage certificate
- proof of your current address (for example: a utility bill or bank statement or television licence or council tax bill or HMRC or DWP letter)
You need to provide your current passport or photo driving licence.
If you don't have these documents you will need to provide a passport style photo with your application which is endorsed by an appropriate referee.

Receiving your card
Your application will be checked and processed. You should get your bus pass within 2 weeks, it will be sent to the address you provided.
Lost, stolen or damaged cards
