Communities Committee Agrees To Roads Review Engagement
Thursday, 01 October 2020 15:53

Members of the Council’s Communities Committee today agreed to stakeholder engagement as part of the ongoing review of the roads service.

A review of the service was recommended by Councillors earlier this year.  Part of this review involves a full engagement mandate, which will allow the public, community councils and many of our other stakeholders to give us their views on the roads service, ask any questions they wish to and give us an idea of exactly what the public and other stakeholders think of the service.

This approach will be predominantly three fold;

  • An online question and answer session, answering your questions

  • A survey for staff and the public to give us an idea of the perception of the roads service

  • Discussions with partners and stakeholders

These various engagement tools will take place throughout October, with a report coming before the next Communities Committee in mid-November with the analysis. There will be an opportunity to ask your questions for the online Q&A session from Monday 5 October, with the survey being open from Monday 12 October.  All information relating to the engagement process will be kept up to date on our social media channels and our website.

Chair of the Communities Committee, Councillor Andy Ferguson said after committee today:

“The review of the roads service is something that is very much in the public eye and by doing such comprehensive engagement, we’re certainly not shirking our responsibilities in relation to this review.  Please take the time to ask us a question and fill in our survey when they’re out – we need your input.”

Vice Chair, Councillor John Martin echoed these comments.  He said:

“The timescales for this review are quite tight, but this is a demonstration of how important it is to us as elected members and to the general public. We will be receiving the analysis from the engagement at our meeting of this committee on 10 November and I sincerely hope you all take this as an opportunity to have your say.”
