Recent releases
Members of Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Ad Hoc COVID-19 Sub Committee (3 April) will be asked to agree to transfer of funding totalling £1.184 million for the delivery of a number of Scheme of Assistance projects.
Councillors will be asked to agree the following allocations;
-£948,000 to deliver the Care and Repair Service
-£149,000 to fund the Small Repairs and Home Support Service (known as the ‘Handy Van’)
-£15,000 to fund the Dementia Friendly Design Project
-£37,400 to fund Food Train Extra
-£35,000 to support the development of the Trusted Trader Scheme
These services aim to support the regions elderly residents to live independently in their own homes for as long as possible.
Dumfries and Galloway’s Health and Social Care Integration Joint Board (IJB) will administer most of the funding with local businesses and charities ensuring that referrals are made where required. Dumfries and Galloway Council will continue to operate the Trusted Trader Scheme.
Leader of the Council, Elaine Murray said, “These projects have provided valuable support to many members of our communities, helping them to live comfortably and securely in their own homes. The Council will continue to work alongside the IJB, local businesses and charities to support our elderly population to stay at home and live independently.”
Depute Leader of Dumfries and Galloway Council, Rob Davidson said: “This approach, of transferring funding to the IJB, is being taken to ensure that these projects are able to continue to provide vital services to vulnerable people living in this region. Providing Members agree to these allocations, this funding will go towards vital adaptations for those who need it most.”
