Newton Stewart Flood Protection Scheme

Latest News - August 2023

The 28 day period for representations on the proposed Scheme has now ended, and a total of 58 were received. These have now been considered by the Project Team and each of the representations have been replied to, with answers and additional information included, together with proposed actions and mitigation to hopefully address any concerns.

A summary of the representations and the Council response is attached below:

A report has been submitted for consideration at the Communities Committee on 22 August 2023 and this can be viewed at the following link:  Communities Committee Report - 22 August 2023.

At the Communities Committee on 2 February 2023, Dumfries and Galloway Council agreed to the publication of the Newton Stewart Flood Protection Scheme.

The publication starts on 25 May 2023 with a notice in the local press:

From 25 May to 23 June, anyone can submit an objection or representation to the Scheme (in writing) to  Newton Stewart Flood Protection Scheme, Dumfries and Galloway Council, Council Headquarters, English Street, Dumfries, DG1 2DD or via email at newtonstewartFPS@dumgal.gov.uk Full details are contained in the Notice.
