The King's Award for Voluntary Service
The King's Award for Voluntary Service recognises groups for extraordinary achievements and commitment to their community. The KAVS is the MBE of volunteering. It is the highest honour that a volunteering group can receive. You can nominate a group for an award.
This award is given to volunteer groups to recognise outstanding work done in their own communities such as:
- regularly devoting their time to helping others
- improving the quality of life and opportunity for others
- provide an outstanding service
Winners receive a certificate signed by the King and a domed glass crystal. Representatives from the group may also be invited to attend a royal garden party.
Nominate a group for an award
Anyone can nominate a volunteer group. Each group is assessed by a local assessment panel which decides which ones to send to the National Award Committee, awards are then approved by The King.
