Get free use of a mobility scooter

If you have a mobility impairment you can apply to join Dumfries mobility scooter scheme. This lets you hire mobility scooters in Dumfries town centre for 2 hours.

Who can join the scheme

Membership is free and open to anyone living in or visiting Dumfries and Galloway, aged 14 and over.

You do not have to be registered disabled to use the service.

For your first visit to use a mobility scooter, you'll need to bring:

  • your completed application form
  • proof of your identity, for example a Blue Badge, driving licence, bus pass or passport
  • proof of address, for example a recent utility bill or driving licence

You will also have to complete some basic training before your first use. This should take around 5 minutes.

Scooters are available Tuesday to Friday (except public holidays) at the following times:

  • Tuesdays, 10am to 2:30pm
  • Wednesdays, 10am to 1:30pm
  • Thursdays, 10am to 1:30pm
  • Fridays, 10am to 2:30pm
