Strategic Environmental, Habitat and Equality Assessments

We assess the social and environmental impact of the Local Development Plan and supplementary guidance when preparing them.

Strategic Environmental Assessments and Habitat Regulations Appraisals are a legal requirement and the Local Development Plan can't be adopted until these assessments are done.

A Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) assesses the likely impact of the plan on the environment:

Habitat Regulations Appraisals

A Habitat Regulations Appraisal (HRA) assesses whether the plan will have an impact on Special Areas of Conservation, Special Protected Areas and Ramsar sites. An HRA can also be prepared for other documents when required.

Equality Impact Assessment

An Equality Impact Assessment identifies where policies, guidance or procedures in will have an effect on different groups of people. We have assessed the equality impact of the Local Development Plan 2 (LDP2) for Dumfries and Galloway:
