Dumfries and Galloway councillors agreed today (Thursday 28 March) to establish two new net zero targets - one for the council and one for the Dumfries and Galloway region.

Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal visited Lockerbie on Monday 25 March to mark the 35thAnniversary of the Lockerbie Air Disaster and to visit the recently refurbished Dryfesdale Lodge Visitor Centre.

Dumfries and Galloway Council met as a Full Council today (Tuesday 27 February) to agree its budget and set the council tax level for financial year 2024/25.

Following a comprehensive recruitment process, Dumfries and Galloway Council has appointed Stephen Morgan as its new Service Director Social Work Services (Chief Social Work Officer).

Dumfries and Galloway Council are delighted to hear that Stranraer Marina will benefit from a share of a £36 million fund partly awarded to the Borderlands Partnership region by the UK Government's Department for Science, Innovation and Technology. This £3.8 million additional funding, shared between the marina and 4 other Borderlands' projects, is separate from the Borderlands Inclusive Growth Deal and feeds into the Borderlands' Digital Infrastructure Strategy.

This is Haylie a Youth Worker in Nithsdale (and an impressive one at that). Haylie's role is to support young people, helping them arrive at a positive destination in life.

Dumfries and Galloway Council is implementing a temporary 20mph speed limit in Annan from 17 November in response to a decision made at December 2021 Communities Committee, a target in the National Transport Strategy (NTS2) and feedback from the public.

The Integration Scheme for Dumfries and Galloway has been reviewed, revised and updated. This is a draft document until 2 December 2023 to give people a further opportunity to provide comments and/or suggest changes.

This is Ross Gemmell. Ross is a countryside ranger for Dumfries and Galloway Council. This role maintains the Southern Upland Way route, the Annandale Way and the core path network in Dumfries and Galloway - along with the Beehive Bothy and Polskeoch Bothy that are used by walkers and cyclists all year round.
